Introduction to entrainment training

Throughout history, the manipulation of the brain in various forms has always been of interest to both doctors and scientists alike.  It hasn’t been until recent years, however, that the brain has been able to be successfully mapped and a variety of different forms of manipulation have come into being.  One of the most interesting, along with being a newcomer to the field is entrainment training.  By using this method, a variety of different things can take place within the brain that can enhance a person’s thinking, personality and even their level of intelligence.

All of us interact with the world around us by using the five senses of sight, sound, taste, touch and smell.  Any information that we receive from these five senses is converted into thought once it reaches the brain.  This process involves electrical charges that pass between the neurons through the synapse.  These electrical charges are able to be measured as they come in waves of various lengths.  Entrainment training involves manipulating these electrical charges to a certain degree in order to achieve a purpose.  How is this accomplished?

Generally, entrainment training involves either sending pulses of light or sound to an individual in order to produce its own electrical pattern within the brain.  This overtakes any pattern that is already existing in the brain and it entrains with it, bringing itself into alignment with whatever brain waves are existing.  This has the effect of changing the wave pattern in order to produce a mental state that did not exist previously.

One of the easiest ways to be able to do this is through sound therapy.  There are two different ways to accomplish this, isochronic tones and binaural beats.  Binaural beats use the process of giving two different frequencies of sound to the listener, one in each ear.  Whenever these sounds come together in the brain, the frequency is heard as the difference between these two sounds.  An isochronic tone uses the same frequency but it does so by turning the sound on and off at regular intervals.

The benefits of entrainment training are amazingly diverse.  In some studies, individuals who are having a difficult time academically were put through a program of entrainment training for a period of time.  All of the individuals within the study recognized increases in their ability to concentrate and how well they did academically.  It’s interesting to note that even six months to a year after these studies were performed, the individuals who took part were still recognizing increases in these areas.

Entrainment training may also be able to do such things as reduce stress, promote relaxation, relieve pain and even raise a person’s IQ.  You would probably be surprised to discover all of the different things that this process can do for you.  As we continue to learn more about the entrainment training in how to effectively use it, more people will benefit as a result.
